What is Casper?

A desktop app for social carousels. Your assistant writes decks in a folder on your computer; you review every 4:5 screen in Casper and export for Instagram or LinkedIn.

How do I install Casper?

Download the app and start with the free 14-day email trial, or buy a license directly from the home page. The desktop app is the only way to connect your folder, review decks, and export. See Getting started.

Can I use Casper in the browser?

No. Casper is a desktop app. The public demo site is a read-only preview of sample carousels — not your workspace and not a substitute for installing the app.

Do I need to code?

No for daily production. Your assistant edits the deck files; you review in Casper. Coding helps if you want to go deeper, but it is not required.

How is Casper different from Canva?

Canva is manual drag-and-drop. Casper is for a repeatable loop with an assistant, approval on every screen, and native 4:5 export — with your files on disk.

Which assistants work?

Any tool that edits files in your folder: Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT, Windsurf, Zed, and similar. Use Commands in chat; use Casper to preview and export.

Do I need a paid ChatGPT or Claude subscription?

That is between you and your assistant provider. Casper does not include or bill for AI chat — use whatever plan you already have, including free tiers where they exist.

Which assistants can generate infographic images?

Infographics in Casper are AI-drawn images — diagrams, metaphors, custom visuals — not slide layouts you fill with text. Your assistant must support image generation: for example ChatGPT (with image output) or Antigravity CLI.

Text-only tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex can still draft the full deck with slide layouts; they just cannot produce those image screens. Image generation follows your assistant’s plan and limits — separate from your Casper license.

Where are my carousels stored?

In the folder you chose with Open workspace…. Casper and your assistant must use the same path. Your folder.

Will updating Casper or syncing the kit delete my work?

No. Sync only updates the slide kit (assistant skills and commands). Your carousels (slides/), source files (repository/), production board (slides/.production-board.json), catalog (project.json), and personal themes (themes/custom/) are never removed by sync. Disconnecting the assistant preview also does not delete files. See What sync touches.

Does Casper post to Instagram for me?

No. You export PNG/PDF and publish yourself. Casper does not autopost.

What is open-slide?

The slide engine under Casper. You do not need to learn it to use the app — see the site footer for credits and links.
